From a very young age, Kate took a keen interest in saddlery. She remembers buying a broken saddle at a car boot sale, just to take it apart and find out how it was made.
As an avid and competent horse-woman, Kate has had close contact with all kinds of saddlery throughout her life. But when she left school, Kate actually became apprenticed as a saddler with H Woolley and Sons in Uttoxeter.
Even though Kate kept her hand in by making commission pieces such a reproductions of medieval bridles, it took her many years to take up saddlery full-time and start her own business. Today, Kate Hardt Saddlery makes and supplies affordable, high-quality British-made products to horse-riders.
As an SMS Qualified Master Saddler, Kate can make, customise, repair and refurbish most leather items from saddles to bridles, dog collars to belts and gun slips. She has invented several unique and useful gadgets such as the martingale-to-girth attachment clip, which keep riders safe and make their lives easier.
At Kate Hardt Saddlery we pride ourselves on supplying and making British leatherware and saddles, as well as made-to-measure and bespoke high-quality products that you can’t get from your local saddlery. Quality counts, because quality lasts.
